faulty stairlift - day 10 of imprisonment
on friday two people came out to look at the stairlift, i will nickname them 'the suit' who as you can probably guess was wearing a suit and 'the engineer' who took the stairlift apart. the suit firstly asked if i were going to come downstairs for a chat... umm.... no, i'm stuck upstairs because the stairlifts broken! so he came upstairs to take down details of what the problem was whilst the engineer stripped the stairlift down. the suit was telling me the problem could be due to all sorts of thing like changes in temperature (so if you have a stairlift it will only work if the temperature stays exactly the same all the time?!) or gradient of staircase which of course will have been measured before the stairlift was fitted so if thats the problem whoever measured it is to blame. engineer told us he'd found an intermittent problem so he'd put a brand new carriage in. the suit then tried to reassure me the stairlift was fixed even telling me it's just like a new stairlift now with what they've replaced. i couldn't however extract a promise that it was fixed & pointed out i'd been told it was fixed numerous times before so really have no confidence in the stairlift now. so he told me he considered the stairlift safe & fit for purpose but seen as i were unhappy with that he would write up his report & try to get me a new stairlift in. well i'm very glad i didn't trust the stairlift! i tried it using remote control & it's still faulty. if i had been on that stairlift i hate to think what it would have done to my joints especially my recently operated on shoulder which i can only hope wasn't damaged 26th january when the stairlift stopped suddenly jolting my shoulder & injuring my neck
